Quicktech System
HomeInstallation MethodsQuicktech System

Easy, simple and quick installation system for glass blocks of the Basic line, perfect also for a un-expert user.

To build up a wall with the Quicktech system you only need to glue the glass blocks to the system profiles. The System allows the glass block installation with a reduced joint, therefore it is easier to fill the joints than with the traditional system. The walls finishing can be made with mortar (for straight and curved walls) or with silicon (only for straight walls).

The Quicktech System allows the combination of the Basic line shapes: squared, rectangular, and end blocks. The internal joints are of 5mm thickness and the external vertical joints are 15mm thickness.

QUICKTECH SYSTEM FOR STRAIGHT WALLS.

Each Quicktech kit contains the material needed to build a 1m² wall with 25 glass blocks of the Basic line. The walls built up with the Quicktech system can reaches 3.50m high for walls connecting floor and ceiling, or 2.20m high by 1.40m length for free standing walls (fixed to the floor and the wall).

Material for 1 m²:

2×300 ml tubes of Quicktech glue – 8×96.5cm profiles – 20x18cm profiles.

Free standing wall

1. Measure the profiles:
Leave 1 cm between the block and the profile.

2. Cut the profiles to size:
Cut the tube to a diameter of 3 mm.

3. Check the angle:
Check that the angle between the wall and the floor is 90°. Glue the horizontal profile to the floor. Glue the vertical profile to the wall. Check that the profile is completely vertical.

4. Use the glue:
Use only the amount of glue necessary for each glass block.

5. Glue:
Glue one of the short profiles to one side.

6. Complete the row:
Repeat the process until the first row has been completed.

7. Apply the horizontal profiles:
Place a horizontal profile between each row of glass blocks. Glue the horizontal profiles to the lower row.

8. Alternate the position of profiles:
For lengths greater than one metre alternate the position of the profiles in each row.

9. Repeat the process to complete:
Repeat the process until the required height has been reached. Periodically check that the wall is vertical.

WALLS CONNECTING FLOOR AND CEILING

1. Measure the profiles:
Cut the profiles to size.

2. Cut the tube and glue:
Cut the tube to a diameter of 3 mm. Glue the horizontal profile to the floor.

3. Affix long profiles vertically:
1 X 96,5cm and 1X0,5 cm – uniform load distribution.

4. Don’t directly glue glass blocks to each other:
Glass blocks must never be directly glued to each other using adhesives, always use short profiles in between blocks if using adhesives.

5. Stabilise with adhesive tape:
On higher levels, stabilise lenghtwise and breadthwise with adhesive tape.

6. Use metal brackets to join with ceiling:
Fix long metal brackets to alternate plastic profiles with adhesive tape.

FINISHINGS

1. Leave to dry and seal the joints:
Leave to dry for 24 h before applying mortar joint or silicon finish*. Always seal the joints in contact with the wall, floor and ceiling with silicon. Once the finish has been applied clean the surface of the blocks.

2. Glue a profile:
Glue a plastic, wooden or metal profiles for a neat finish.

3. Maximum resistance:
The structure achieves maximum resistance after three weeks.

Remark: finishing material is not included in the Installation Kit
* LGA certificate for a wall with mortar joint finishing and SEVES’s glass blocks.

QUICKTECH SYSTEM FOR CURVED WALLS.

Each Quicktech kit contains the material needed to install 10 glass blocks (squared or rectangular) for curve walls that have 1.55m radius obtained with squared glass block, and 0.75m radius obtained with rectangular glass block. The curved walls built up with the Quicktech System can reaches 2.50m high.

Material included in the kit:

2×96,5cm profiles – 2x48cm profiles – 10x18cm profiles – 1x300ml Tubes Quicktech glue.

INSTALLATION

1. Curved walls:
Use 18cm profiles horizontally and angular section profiles vertically.

2. Position profiles:
Positioning the 18cm profiles between floor and glass block, then positioning the angular ones with different high alternately between one block and the following.

3. Cut and insert the angular profiles:
Cut the angular profiles with the same measure of the high of the wall. Insert the 18cm profiles between one block and the following to calculate the length of the profile.
N.B. For high>48cm, positioning the shorter angular profile, then the longer one, to join the desired high, after they have been measured and cut. In the following column proceed inverting the sequence and cut the shorter profile according to the desired high of the wall (in both cases leave 1cm respect the high of the last block).

4. Glue the profiles:
Glue a 18cm profile to the floor, then glue a glass block on it (for glass block feathered wall, start with a long angular profile, then fix the 18cm profile at the floor). Then, glue an angular profile to the lateral side of the glass block. Repeat the steps n.3-4 to complete the row.

5. Proceed with the installation:
Glue the glass block sto the horizontal profile and to the vertical ones on both sides of the block.

FINISHINGS

1. Leave to dry for 24 h before applying mortar joint:
Once the finish has been applied clean the surface of the blocks.
Remark: finishing material is not included in the Installation Kit.

2. Seal the joints and glue the profiles:
Always seal the joints in contact with the wall, floor and ceiling with silicon. Glue a plastic, wooden or metal profiles for a neat finish. The structure achieves maximum resistance after three weeks.

Remark: finishing material is not included in the Installation Kit.
